Book your ticket now to COMPASS Jobs Fair London, 21 November ‘Social work and Wellbeing Conference’.

 

The COMPASS Jobs Fair, London will return to the Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square in central London, 21 November.

 

Visitors will have the opportunity to network with a range of exhibitors and discuss current career opportunities for qualified social workers with future employees.

 

Organisations will include local authorities looking to recruit, specialist providers showcasing innovative services, publishers offering new theory perspectives, and recruitment agencies helping you to advance your career.

 

This year's CPD sponsor, West Sussex County Council, will be hosting several seminars including ‘Promoting diversity and cultural sensitivity in social work’ led by award winning social worker, Vivian Okeze-Tirado, who will discuss what diversity and ‘cultural competence’ are and how they can be understood in the context of social work practice.

 

Cara Davis, Service Manager, Children’s Mental and Emotional Health Team at West Sussex County Council will also be hosting ‘Improving the emotional and mental well-being of children and young people’ as part of the Social Work and Wellbeing Conference.

 

Other organisations attending will include Buckinghamshire Council, London Borough of Bromley, The Caldecott Foundation, Cellmark, Child and Family Training, Coventry City Council, The Cyrenians, Finders International, Hampshire County Council, Jessica Kingsley Publishers and many more.

 

Visitors will have the chance to attend over 40 social work and wellbeing seminars, workshops, and films, hosted by special guest speakers and social work experts, whilst gaining a full day of CPD. 

 

Seminar programmes will offer sector specific guidance exploring current trends and activities in social care, including social work and wellbeing, designed for social workers, students, researchers, and mental health practitioners.

 

Event sponsor, Vigoroom UK will also host seminars led by renowned author, Dr Neil Thompson, hosted seminars on ‘How to survive in social work’, as well as ‘Stress – Who has responsibility’ exploring workplace stress and who has responsibility for it.

 

Social work organisations including Social Workers Union will host a Q&A session on ‘How to improve stress and working conditions for UK social workers in 2022’, with a presentation on the 2022 findings of the working conditions for social workers survey.

 

BASW (British Association of Social Workers) will host ‘Out of the Shadows’: The role of social workers in disasters including the pandemic’ where professional officer, Rebekah Pierre will discuss the role of the social worker in disasters and during the pandemic, including the stories from social workers and people of lived experience which have been collected for a new book – ‘Out of the Shadows’.

 

Other seminar sessions will include ‘Social Work, Cats & Rocket Science: Making a difference in social work with adults’ by Rob Mitchell, Principle Social Worker and Elaine James, Honorary Researcher at Lancaster University. This session will explore a collection of social work case studies from frontline social workers and include reflective learning points, as well as a discussion of supporting case law.

 

Legal skills sessions will also take place throughout the day led by Author and Director of Kingsley Knight Training, Shefali Shah, helping social workers gain an understanding of the law and legal processes for social work professionals.

Workshops and the Social Work Cinema will also be available for visitors, offering a selection of short films which will explore key topics and stories in the social work profession.
