Our Social Workers do great work…

We know this because our children and young people tell us what a difference their social worker’s make to their lives. We are proud of all our staff who work every day in this hugely challenging profession and celebrate this work regularly.

We know we are on a journey of improvement. We know this is challenging but we are confident that we are helping to change the lives of children in Somerset. Our social workers tell us that they feel valued, supported and encouraged to develop their careers. They enjoy being able to work on the move with improved technology and access to a wide range of web-based resources they can access anywhere. Our social workers benefit from low caseloads and smaller teams so that they can really focus on getting to know their children better and provide high quality support to make a difference

Everyone understands our ambition for children’s services across Somerset. We’re clear on where we’re going – and how our people can help us get there. With our partners on board we make sure that children receive the right services in the right place at the right time so that only children who need a social worker have one.

We listen. We look after each other. We challenge each other to improve practice. And, most importantly, we work together.
