Exhibitors

The event was well organised with good information prior to the date and excellent support and facilitiation on the day. The number of visitors to our stand took us by surprise and I would advise exhibitors to bring plenty of information and promotional materials.  The visitors were all interested in the jobs and volunteering opportunities on offer and we hope to receive many applications post event.

 Adullam Housing

Overall great day.  Great response from visitors.

Bluecare

An excellent day, busier in the morning, but good attendance overall.  Visitors seemed much more business like this year looking at how to maximise placement experience to ensure versatility across adults and children’s services.

A lot of interest in relation to quality of supervision, training, support, structure and service vision with very few questions re finance/salaries.

Hope to have a good response to our adverts.  Fewer experienced children’s workers visited us this year, however some good potential applicants for practice consultant posts. A lot of interest in potential conversion/transfer routes from adults to children’s services.

Cheshire East Council

A productive event this year.  In light of changes of Local Authority staffing there was more of a mix of experienced and qualified workers as well as newly qualified or yet to qualify. Some input from the Social Work TaskForce/Reform Board would have been good as a seminar and stand, which could have caught up to 2000 people – an opportunity lost.

 Cheshire East Council

Very productive day.  Well organised and will be returning next year.

Knowsley  MBC

Yet again, another excellent event.  Relevant candidates from local universities genuinely interested in Lancashire County Council vacancies.  Mixture of qualified and unqualified candidates.

Very well organised as always – great hospitality from COMPASS.  Great opportunity to network with other local authorities.  Would love to return next year.

Lancashire County Council

A busier day than expected and a good quality of candidates coming through! Good day all round.

Liquid Personnel

I thought the event was well organised, very friendly.  We had many enquiries about various positions within Oldham Council, very productive day.

Oldham Council

Fantastic day with lots of referrals and networking opportunities.  Thoroughly pleased and look forward to next year.

Pulse Staffing

A good variety of candidates particularly NQSWs and career change individuals.  Lots of enquiries about unqualified/support roles.

Rochdale Council

Very well organised and productive day.

Salford City Council

Excellent footfall.  Great stand position. Facilities very impressive and made the day go well.

Semester Recruitment

Very positive day, lots of interest in our organisation, interesting speakers.  Lovely lunch!! Very well organised!!

Shropshire Council

Very good stand location.  Positive response.  Very busy – constant traffic.  A positive reaction from other exhibitors.

Shropshire Council

Mixture of visitors, from experienced social workers to people looking to come to the profession.  Good range of candidates, unfortunately not many vacancies to offer.  Good for networking – will have to consider cost of event against benefits if no vacancies.

Stockport MBC

A successful, productive day.  A good selection of quality candidates who are genuinely looking for a new career.  A fantastic opportunity to network with key clients in the private, not for profit and public sector.

Swiis UK

Visitors

A very informative and interesting event combining policy and development with real experience of implementing current changes.  Spacious venue with good presentation resources.

Community Support Worker

Very well organised.  Able to meet and discuss job options with Pulse Staffing.  Very friendly people, good information relayed.  Having come from London it was worth it!  Well done to all organisers and for the free wine too.

Social Worker

The human traffick seminar was very informative and interesting and it is something I would like to learn more about.  Good range of exhibitors, most worthwhile.

Residential Support Worker

The day was very informative with very good guest speakers.  The stalls provided invaluable info regarding job search.

Social Work Student

Very good day – very pleasant atmosphere and nice sweets from the stalls!  Very good workshop on human trafficking – informative and thought  provoking

An enjoyable day with a variety of seminars and exhibitors.

Student

Very useful and provided a lot of useful information.

BA Social Work Student

Well organised, I wished to meet more voluntary organisations next time.  Informing event, good opportunity for NQSW, useful networking event, also good as there are many recruitment agencies.  Hopefully no need to return as I would like a full time job.  Human trafficking seminar was brilliant.

Social Worker

Very good, people were approachable and helpful.

Activities Assistant

I have never been to a Compass event before but will definitely come again.  I have found the day and seminars very informative and the majority of exhibitors friendly and knowledgeable.  Please come back next year but with more vacancies, as the lack of them was rather disheartening.

Residential Care Worker – Children

Well done. Please come back next year with more vacancies though

Residential Care Worker

For someone very new to the industry, I found this jobs fair fantastic.  When I mentioned to exhibitors my legal background (ie 2:1 law degree) they were able to provide guidance and encouragement.

I found both the Manchester City Council stands and seminar “The future role of social work” very informative and it felt very honest, they were happy to highlight areas they were working on. I will definitely return next year.

Community Support Worker

Gained lots of information about the different areas of social work.  Seminars were informative.  Would like information via email about the next social work event being held in Manchester.

NQSW

I have really enjoyed the day and found the seminars/stands very informative.  Maybe some more info regarding courses/qualifications would have been useful.  Really enjoyed it.  Thank you.

Student

I have found it very informative although I haven’t a degree in social work, I have found some seminars useful for my next steps.  Thank you.

Support Worker

Could be more agencies that helped show how to get into social work ie universities.  Will return once qualified.

Teaching Assistant

Having now retired from full time frontline work, but continuing as part time tutor with the OU’s SW degree, I’ve found the Compass events (Birmingham and Manchester) very useful in keeping informed about current developments – and they are free!

OU Tutor

I found it useful to see what agencies, local council, recruitment agencies are around my area.  Seminars were also interesting.

Student

Brochures provided by stands useful to take away.  Seminar series useful and relevant.  Venue – a positive in terms of geographical area and space inside.

Student social worker

Good range of exhibitors – very helpful when I explained my role and that I was seeking info that might help students they were very helpful.

A useful  networking event to look at opportunities as an employer to link with other organisations.  Informative sessions provided, particularly the Adullam and BASW.

The Federation of Jewish Services

Good range of exhibitors.  Good networking event.

Adult Social Work Team Manager, Federation of Jewish Services

I found the day to be particularly helpful with regards to the information available and in particular the agency involvement.  I am in full time work currently however I am looking  to boost my income and experience with shift work in the evenings.

I also found the stall and seminar on trafficking to be very informative and it was a great way to raise awareness.

Support Worker (Alcohol & Tenancy)

A full seminar timetable will be available to view nearer the event.
