Jobs, training, information and career development

COMPASS Jobs Fair will be working in partnership with local authorities, voluntary agencies and private sector organisations again this year to create an annual national event in London for all those who work or are looking to work in the social work and social care sector.

If you are a qualified social worker the event can be used as a day towards your PRTL requirements to remain registered to practise.

We host a full seminar programme which can be used to update your practice and find out what is happening in the profession.

The programme includes:

- NQSW seminars
- Career planning programme
- Good practice in Children’s Services
- Good practice in Adult Care Services
- Career support

If you are a qualified social worker or social care worker looking for a change, a newly qualified social worker looking to find your first job, or a soon to qualify student looking for some professional advice. The COMPASS Jobs Fair offers you the opportunity to find out all you need to know.

Exhibitors

It was an excellent day.  Met many wonderful people who will hopefully go on to reap the rewards a successful and rewarding career in Merton. Location of our stand was ideal as we were able to meet and greet people as they arrived.  Overall it was an extremely rewarding busy day and we came away feeling very positive about the whole event.

Merton Council

The day was busy, lots of prospective employees came to Croydon stand, all interested in hearing about Croydon.  The main interest was work of the Social Work Academy especially the training and support for NQSW’s

Croydon Council

It was brilliant!  Well organised, our seminar well profiled and well attended.  Well worth us coming – lots of great conversations and interest in how trafficking affects social workers.

Stop the Traffik

Very busy day today – over 200 visitors to our stand, we almost ran out of promotional items! There was lots of positive feedback from guests regarding the benefits we offer like our relocation scheme. Many more qualified workers than previous events plus lots of international students. Lunch was brill and the sun shined on the best!

Peterborough City Council

Compass were able to organise a well compact concise arena for our clients to discuss current opportunities and how government legislation is likely to effect the industry.  It was well worthwhile and an event that I’m sure we will make a return visit too.

Bluecare

We have been able to speak to a wide variety of people who are either qualified social workers looking to undertake further study or people interested in becoming a social worker.  We have had quite a few enquiries regarding our new MSc Social Work Programme which is fantastic!  Definitely a worthwhile event.

Buckinghamshire New University

Fantastic day, many really good quality candidates came through the door and so far it has been a great success for us.

SWIIS Recruitment

Compass is a very well organised recruitment fair.  We have had a very successful day in terms of collating names of social workers who would like to work for Kent.  We have also had the opportunity to promote and market Kent County Council and present information about KCC Open University and trainee social work programmes.

Kent County Council

Thanks for another great event.  Lots of people and lots of interest yet again in the NQSW framework.  Although we are not offering SW jobs, people found it beneficial learning about the tools and resources we have developed to support them in their first year of professional practice.  Thanks to the Compass team for their help and support throughout the day.

Skills for Care

A well organised event.  Interesting mix of people lots of interest shown in the stand.  Good lunch!  Thanks for all the hard work!

General Social Care Council

It has been an interesting event for us today and has proven to be very successful.  People have been surprised by us exhibiting in London but at the same time have been very open to looking at relocating to Birmingham.  We have also received very good feedback on Colin Tucker, Director of Children’s Social Care seminar.

Birmingham City Council

Very nice venue.  Excellent food.  Would be interested in joining in next year.

Homecare and Domestic Services

A hugely productive day!  Excellent facilities and very attentive, helpful organising staff.  The event was a fantastic platform for bringing our work to the attention of a strikingly diverse range of people.

Stop the Traffik

Friendly staff/helpful.  Opportunities to meet diverse number of people.  Opportunities to talk about the work of SWCF linked it to our work in practice.  We are pleased with the interest shown.  Stand in good position.  Food ok.  Venue: direction very good, NB it would be useful to have Compass information outside, possibly from main stations.

Visitors

I enjoy this fair because it is small and manageable.  I have been to so many in the past but I’ll prefer today’s as I learned a lot more and was able to attend the seminars.

The event was good experience for me and I was happy to meet professionals, Local Authorities and recruitment agencies.  Thanks for the opportunity.

A very supportive gathering.

The day has been very informative.  It was well organised and the personnel representing boroughs or organisations were helpful, they listened, answered your questions without showing any agitation or pressure.  Quite relaxed atmosphere.  Well done.

NQSW

Good information given but needs more inner London Boroughs to attend Camden, Brent etc for those who cannot travel out of London.

Social Worker

Very informative.  Given clear concise information in order to complete studies via BA Hons Social Science to MSc in social work.  18 months to completion .

Residential Care Worker

Attended a Compass event when first training as a social worker.  Found it very informative then and an introduction to social work.  Today have found it interesting to speak to other boroughs and discuss practice.  Compass events are a great resource for both newly qualifying social services and qualified.

Social Worker – Adults & Vulnerable

I have been coming to Compass Jobs Fairs since 2004.  I actually got my inspiration to study for a social work degree from the 2004 event at Hammersmith.  It’s an opportunity that is worth catching on. I have also recommended it to a lot of friends ho are attending today.

Social Work Student

Well informed and organised programme.  Also it was very educative.

NQSW

A very informative day which has opened up the possibility of an interview which I got through SWIIS agency.

This was a very informative conference.  It allowed me to reflect and analyse the organisational set up and support provided by the different councils.  It was very informative in the provision of information and support for social workers.  Will definitely come again.  Thanks

Care Manager

An excellent fair and very informative.

Care Assistant

Compass is very useful and has helped me in how to look at my career progression and training.  It has also helped me during my reflections as a social work practitioner.  I will recommend it to newly qualified as well as experienced social workers.

Social Worker, Children & Families

I enjoyed talking with different companies specialists who gave an information and registered for a work, so I will complete an application forms and I hope that I will be employed in the nearest future.

Unemployed support worker

This event would be very helpful to start a career in the UK as a qualified social worker.  Thanks the organisers.

Volunteer at CAB

I found the Compass Jobs Fair incredibly informative and interesting.  It covered topics that I have found difficult to access information on previously, delivered in a very clear and humane way.  I would definitely recommend attending this job fair to other friends and colleagues involved in the career of social work.  Many thanks.

A full seminar programme will be available to view nearer the event.
