Team Manager - Children and Families

Contract type: Full Time

Location: Wandsworth

Salary: Up to £49,200 plus performance related pay.

At Wandsworth, we believe that if we invest in new ways of thinking and working, you’ll have everything you need to do the job you trained for. In turn, that means we’re able to deliver the best possible support for children and young people.

In this key role, you’ll have overall responsibility for an Assistant Team Manager and a wider team of six to eight social workers, overseeing quality assurance, performance management and high-quality, reflective supervision. Through your professional experience and management skills, you will ensure that children remain safe and that our social work helps to deliver the Borough’s vison and strategic priorities.

Specifically, your team management responsibilities will include recruitment, retention, development and the allocation of workload, as well as supervision to ensure consistent high standards of casework. You will lead investigations into any complaints from service users, relatives or carers and take financial responsibility for the budget allocated to the team.

Your wider remit will be to highlight areas of best practice, provide professional advice and support on casework and undertake a range of quality assurance activity.

An HCPC-registered graduate with an appropriate social work qualification, it’s obviously vital you have systematic knowledge of relevant legislation and are familiar with new evidence-based research. We are also looking for an advanced qualification in social work (such as a specialist award in working with children and families) or evidence that you can work at this level.

You will have experience of managing a team or service with a similar complex caseload and will have a well-developed understanding of assessment, planning and intervention.
