Social, Therapeutic & Community Studies subject areas

Leadership & Management

Leadership & Management is concerned with the improvement of management within the Health and Social Care sectors. We have designed the courses for those already working in a Health and Social Care role and have recently taken on management responsibilities or are looking to make the step to management.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy helps people who, for a variety of reasons, find it difficult to cope with aspects of everyday life. By introducing these people to a variety of activities or ‘occupations’ that have been designed to help deal with their problems, Occupational Therapists can help to make a positive change in peoples’ lives. At Coventry University, our Occupational Therapy courses offer a mix of theoretical and practical classes and numerous placement opportunities.

Social Work & Community Studies

Social Work & Community Studies is concerned with improving social justice and social workers in particular play a vital role in supporting the needs of vulnerable people in society and protecting them from harm. Our course are heavily based in practice and you will spend a significant amount of time on placement, working in real communities as well as getting to grips with the theory in the classroom.

Youth Work

Youth Work focuses on the challenges of growing up today in difficult circumstances. Our course will teach you to work closely with other agencies, such as the police and Housing agencies, in order to tackle the social problems that are affecting young people. Our course has an excellent employment record with over 75% of our graduates going on to gain employment within the field of youth work.

Careers Guidance

Careers Guidance is focused on creating the next generation of Careers Guidance professionals. In the current economic climate, the role of the Career Guidance counsellor has never been more important and our accredited courses will give you the skills to begin a career in this field. Our graduates have an excellent track record of employment with career guidance providers.
