DNA is a training and consultancy company, specialising mainly in Child Protection and Social Care.
DNA was founded as a training and consultancy company, originally using the considerable networks that David Niven had developed from his time in practice and working in various roles with BASW. The primary group of courses that were on offer mainly focussed on services to children and families. Contracts were won with authorities in the south west and slowly, as both the number of Associates grew and the number of commissioners also grew, the company managed to broaden both its skill base and the type of training on offer.
Now the company has, at any one time, around 20-25 Associates and the training that we deliver is much more varied, incorporating services to adults and work outside the social care sector as well. One of the excellent benefits is the varied background and experience of the Associates. From Social Services, Law enforcement, Education and Health, the range of expertise is considerable.
We offer traditional and bespoke courses to suit whatever need is required from Child Protection, Coaching and Mentoring, Assessment Skills, Supervision and many many more, through to some particularly specialist training such as Forensic Assessment of Sex Offenders & Perpetrators.
Additionally, David has used his experience as a regular contributor to broadcast and written media to develop a course offering basic media training right up to crisis and reputation management in the media.
Another development within the company has been a very exciting partnership forged with Bath Spa University. Together we have created new qualifications for the wider children’s workforce who have never had an opportunity to gain a university accredited qualification. Several employers have now signed up to participate in this joint enterprise which is proving very successful both in raising awareness of child protection as well as recruitment and retention of staff.

Considering the Associates that we have and the expertise they have accumulated, you might think we would be very expensive. But we’re not. We provide top quality training, for reasonable prices.
