Discover why Bromley is different.

You’ll see that this is a Council that’s determined to keep improving; with a resolute commitment to the community it serves. One that offers talented people support, career development and the opportunity to change children’s lives for the better.

Located in the southeast corner of London, Bromley is home to some 300,000 residents. The population is diverse, as are the local facilities. Shopping, music, sport, eating out – whatever your interests, you’ll find they’re catered for here.

Bromley is also the largest borough in the capital, offering both bustling high streets and tranquil villages. Excellent transport links mean you can be in the heart of London – or the gorgeous Kent countryside – in just 15 minutes, depending which direction you take. International travel is just as accessible. Fast and frequent trains will bear you to Ashford and Dover, which both offer transport to the Continent. What’s more, London’s two main airports, Gatwick and Heathrow, are both a short road trip away.

With a base in Bromley, you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Our Children and Young People’s Services are the key to a better life for vulnerable children across the borough. The division is responsible for preventing harm to children in the community and improving the lives of Looked-After children. Our team work hard to achieve high standards, engage with partners such as health and the police to support children from the moment they’re born.

Our 2010 Ofsted report declared our social care improvement plan ‘outstanding’. It also identified that staff were positive about the support they received from managers and that morale is good. However, there are challenges which we need to address in order to improve our services to the children and families that we support. Our ambition is to make Bromley Children’s Social Care an “excellent” service. To do this we know that we need to attract quality staff and invest in their professional development.

In Bromley, we’re serious about training and development. Whoever you are and whatever your role, you’ll find there are opportunities to continue learning. We’ll even give you three days per year, on top of your annual leave, to spend enhancing your skills and knowledge.
