The JAR report in 2006 stipulated that Peterborough needed to improve recruitment and retention of social workers. The vacancy in 2006 was 38% and it is currently 11% and we hare currently recruiting so this figure will be reduced further
As a result of the JAR, a workforce development strategy was implemented which included:
1. Twice annual recruitment drive linked to the compass careers fairs in
London and Birmingham
2. new ‘brand’ used on all marketing material – promoted at the careers fairs
3. dedicated microsite www.growwithpeterborough.gov.uk
promoted at the careers fair
4. trainee and final year bursaries – promoted at the careers fairs
5. career progression framework as part of the recruitment and retention strategy
