The authority, despite the economic climate, has recently made the decision to continue to invest in safeguarding children including the creation of new Social Worker posts and Team Managers posts in Child Protection, Looked After Service and Specialist Family Support.
We have a new Social Worker Career Grade with enhanced salaries and a well developed post qualifying training and development program. We have very recently re-organised our Childcare Structure in Leicester to allow our staff to focus more closely on service areas, including Family Change, Child Protection and ‘Looked After’ Children’s Services. We hope you will come and join us, you will find us committed to the development of our staff, particularly those just starting in their careers but with plenty of opportunities for development for all grades of staff.
For the independent chair post you will have the opportunity to chair a range of safeguarding meetings related to Child Protection and Looked After Children. From September 2011 the successful postholder will be allocated into one of the two specialist teams, with the aim that over time all Chairs will experience working in both specialisms.
