A great day was had by all on Tuesday 18th October at the COMPASS Jobs Fair London. With 1200 pre-registered visitors we were looking forward to a busy day at the Royal Horticultural Halls, Westminster and that we did!
With event sponsor Croydon Council present and a number of other Local Authorities including Kent County Council, Surrey Council, Sutton Council, Merton Council and Bromley Council with recruitment agencies Medicare First and Liquid Personnel our visitors were spoilt for choice for recruiters, whilst our exhibitors signed up numerous individuals to fill their social work vacancies.
Visitors were engrossed in the exclusive seminars held on the day with speakers such as Andrew Constable and Colin Maginn from Halliwell Homes discussing 'Developing clinically informed practice for young people in the looked after system' and Graham Woodham (Regional Liaison Manager, Skills for Care) revealing the reality of 'Your first year as a Social Worker'.
Panel discussion, 'What is the future for Adult Safeguarding?' from Ruth Cartwright (Manager, BASW) created a number of interesting questions open for debate.
At the end of the day Peterborough City Council announced the lucky winner of their prize giveaway of an iPad 2, won by Amy Keane from Middlesex.
