Workforce stability in Darlington Borough Council Children’s Services has contributed to “greatly improved” practice, a recent Ofsted report has found.

The report said children were “experiencing fewer changes in social worker” and were “better able to develop positive relationships with them.” It also found that caseloads were more manageable, which was “helping social workers to focus more on direct work with children and their families.”

Suzanne Joyner, Director of Children and Adults Services at Darlington Borough Council, said: “We are delighted with our ongoing progress and we continue to work hard to support our children who are looked after, ensuring they achieve the best possible outcomes.”

Darlington Borough Council have utilised the COMPASS events this year to assist with the recruitment, retention of their workforce, and will be attending the COMPASS Jobs Fair, London on 13 November.

Suzanne Joyner will also be delivering the session “Multi-Agency Working in the North East”, as part of the Social Work Innovations conference at the event.
