In Ofsted inspection of Central Bedfordshire Council

Central Bedfordshire Council Children’s Services received the ‘good’ rating after inspections taking place in June and July.

Inspectors highlighted a strong relationship between social workers and children, with the inspection report stating that "social workers are tenacious in building positive relationships with children, and children speak positively about their workers."

"Morale across the workforce is good, supported by manageable caseloads."

Central Bedfordshire Council utilised the COMPASS Jobs Fair, Birmingham in March this year to assist with the recruitment, retention of their workforce – essential elements in the overall strategy of improving services – and will be attending the COMPASS Jobs Fair, London on 13 November.

The outcome of the inspection places Central Bedfordshire in the top 31% of councils nationally and one of only four out of eleven Councils in the region graded as ‘good’.

Sue Harrison, Director of Children’s Services said: “I believe the inspection is a fair reflection of our services and recognises the high quality work carried out by our teams. There are learning points for us, many of which we have been able to respond to immediately and we remain resolute in our drive to achieve the best outcomes for all children in Central Bedfordshire.”
